Ginkgo is one of the oldest living plant species on earth — thought to be more than 225 million years old — and individual trees can live to be over 1,00 years old. While ginkgo has a long history of use in China, where it comes from, in recent years it has become one of the top-selling herbs in both Europe and the US. 

Ginkgo is also one of the most well-studied herbs, with over 400 scientific publications about it. It has a wide range of active compounds that affect everything from memory recall and recognition to optimizing blood flow and increasing energy levels. 

Ginkgo’s primary action, however, is to increase blood circulation, which causes the cascade of benefits, from its tonic effects on the brain to increasing ones overall sense of well-being.
