Passionflower

Passionflower is one of our favorite herbs for relaxation, sleep, and stress reduction (we take it almost daily). It’s a supportive herb that helps calm the mind and quell  disquietude, and is gentle enough to be given to children and the elderly. Passionflower soothes the adrenal glands, and also interacts with nicotine receptors, making it helpful for combating nicotine cravings and withdrawal—anyone trying to quit smoking would benefit from Passionflower; it can even be smoked as a tobacco replacement (or mixed with, to lessen the amount of tobacco) while transitioning off of nicotine.

Passionflower has been used for thousands of years across the Americas. It is one of the best herbs for insomnia and nervous condition, but unlike other sedatives, and even other common herbs used for sleep like Valerian or Kava, does not come with morning grogginess.

It has also been used as a magical charm to attract friendship and bring peace. The leaves can be spread in a house to bring harmony.

Note: Passionflower can increase the effects of other sedative drugs, and should therefore not be combined with other sedatives (or at least done so with caution).
