White Willow
White Willow is nature’s Aspirin—quite literally the plant from which Aspirin’s active ingredient was initially synthesized. Native to over three continents, White Willow has been used by Native American for thousands of years to relieve joint pain and manage fevers. It is also anti-inflammatory, great for arthritis, back pain, circulation problems, headaches, infections, neuralgia, sciatica, and physical traumas.
While adjacent to modern OTC painkillers, White Willow is much more mild on the stomach lining than Aspirin and has reduced anticoagulant action. It is also a calming herb, helpful in the treatment of nervous insomnia.
Note: White Willow should not be combined with anticoagulant medication. It is also high in salicylates and may cause headaches or digestive upset in susceptible people.
